About Us

Serving Veterans Since 1921

We help Veterans live better lives by getting them the support they need. The combined resources of four of America’s largest Veteran Service Organizations have assembled to get more benefits to Veterans who have earned them — this is the Michigan Veterans Coalition.

No Veteran
Left Behind.

We see Veterans every day who have not been receiving the benefits they are eligible for. Sometimes it is because they just found the process too confusing. Sometimes they felt that others needed benefits more than they did. When you talk with a with Service Officer at the Michigan Veterans Coalition, you are connected with a Veteran who has your best interest in mind and will work tirelessly on your behalf.

Our Coalition

The American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Vietnam Veterans of America – these are names trusted by Veterans for generations. Together we are determined to reach every Veteran in Michigan that is not receiving benefits and help them to live better lives.

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States.

Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth.

DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families, helping more than 1 million veterans in positive, life-changing ways each year. Last year, the organization provided more than 163,000 rides to veterans attending medical appointments and assisted in filing over 151,000 claims for benefits. In 2021, DAV-represented veterans received more than $25 billion in earned benefits. DAV’s services are offered at no cost to all generations of veterans, their families and survivors.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces.

We trace our roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service. Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans’ pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves.

We have many programs and services that work to support veterans, service members and their families, as well as communities worldwide.

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the only national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA’s goals are to promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans, and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans.
